  13. Protect applications that are not multitask friendly from your screen saver such
  14. as downloads, faxes, backup software, hard disk utilities, and other resource 
  15. intense programs.  Some screen savers are very resource intense and thus slowing
  16. down the entire system.  So if you are like me you need a way to control your 
  17. screen saver.  SS Extender is the way.

  19. Do you have high security access to your network, mid-range computer, mainframe?
  20. Tired of having to log out when you leave your computer unattended to prevent
  21. people from using your user access on your computer while you are away.
  22. Yes a password protected screen saver will do the job but, how do you control 
  23. when it activates.  With SS Extender, that is how!  With SS Extender you control 
  24. when the screen activates and when it doesn't.  Disabling the screen saver is a 
  25. simple click of an icon in the sytem tray.  Starting the screen saver is a simple 
  26. double click of the same icon.  A right click brings up a menu with options to 
  27. run the current screen saver settings, run the display settings, and all of the 
  28. shutdown options for windows. SS Extender V1.2 R0 now supports timed shut downs.
  29. Set the length of time and the shutdown option, and SS Extender will perform the
  30. selected shut down option in the specified time. This utility is a must for any 
  31. serious windows user.

  33. SS Extender is fully Windows 95 compatible including an uninstall option.  SS Extender 
  34. has been test under Window NT 4.0 beta and seems to run fine.

  36. SS Extender is a shareware program you have a 30 day evaluation and then a 10 day 
  37. grace period to use SS Extender.  It is fully functional during this 30 day eval

  42. Installation

  46. If installing a new version/revision, make sure you uninstall the old 
  47. version/revision.  See uninstalling below.

  49. 1.  First the installation program and SS Extender require the VB 4.0 32 
  50.     bit runtime library, VB40032.DLL.  This dll can be downloaded from many
  51.     on-line services, AOL, and from the internet at 
  52.     http://users.aol.com/bradwyoung/files.htm
  53. 2.  After you have the VB runtime library in you windows\system directory,
  54.     unzip the ssextend.zip to a temporary directory and run setup.exe. The setup
  55.     program will install SS Extender on your machine and create a shortcut in the
  56.     StartUp folder.
  57. 3.  After the installation is complete go to the start menu Programs-StartUp-SS Extender
  58.     to run.      
  59. 4.  You may delete the files in the temporary directory.

  65. 1.  Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel
  66. 2.  Select SS Extender in the list box and click the Add/Remove button

  72.     If files that SS Extender did not install are in the SS Extender directory
  73.     the uninstall program will be unable to remove the SS Extender directory.
  74.     So, you can go the the explorer and delete the directory manually.

  80.     Fixed bug of a runtime error being generated when the SS Extender system 
  81.     tray icon is double right clicked.  Fixed SS Extender registry settings
  82.     so no matter who logs in the SS Extender can find the correct registry
  83.     settings.

  87.     screen saver and then you try to run screen saver from SS Extender and you

  101.     Revision does nothing new.

  104.     Fix problem if screen saver is disabled and you start the screen saver. When the
  105.     screen saver is cleared the screen saver is no longer disabled, but SS Extender
  106.     shows that it is still disabled.
